Campi ya Kanzi,
Amboseli, Kenya selected as
finalist for 2004 world legacy
award -
The have been rewarded for its
efforts in conservation and in
ecotourism not only by being
selected finalists for the 2004
World Legacy Award, but also by
being chosen by USA today in the
Top Ten ecotourism destination
in the world. All at the camp
are very pleased. Their efforts
continue with the game scouts
doing an excellent job, and the
staff making a huge difference
in the schools, with the
employment of many teachers.
They are still
trying to launch the Simba
Project: the reimbursement to
the Maasai of the livestock
killed by lion, so that nobody
will retaliate and kill the
predatory lions. Lions--the most
African animals--are now
endangered: your help can make
the difference. To help sustain
Simba Project “Territory Ahead”
(a fashion catalogue of the USA)
came to the camp to shoot their
woman’s clothing catalogue,
Isabella Bird. The camp had a
week of excitement, shooting
pictures in the most unusual
locations (over the hills, at
the Maasai village, in the
savanna). Hundreds of clothes
flew in from the USA, models,
producers, photographers,
technicians, hairdressers,
tailors…. You can’t imagine.
They stayed for a week. While it
was hard work for all, up at 5
am and going all day, it was
also lots of fun.
