Governors' Camp Launches Big
Cat Updates.
For the last 16 years
Governors' Camp has played
host to the BBC Natural
History Unit as the location
for their famous Big Cat Diary
and Big Cat Live Productions.
The BBC chose Governors' Camp
and the surrounding area of
the Masai Mara National
Reserve to film the episodes
because of the incredible
diversity of wildlife here and
in particular, the amazing and
consistent Lion, Leopard and
Cheetah sightings. The
Governors' Camp area of the
Masai Mara is one of the best
places to see the spectacular
wildlife of the African
savanna in its natural
environment. Many of our
clients have got to know these
animals personally, follow the
drama of their unfolding lives
and learn of their histories
and are asking us for updates
and news of these magnificent
big cats. As a result
Governors' Camp Collection
together with Screaming Reels
Productions have joined forces
to film and produce Governors'
Big Cat Updates a series of
documentary films. The series
is filmed by Warren Samuels an
accomplished and highly
respected wildlife filmmaker
with over 11years experience
filming for the BBC, Big Cat
Diary and Big Cat Live.

Saruni Camp in the Masai
Mara has a new Family Tent
at their Campi Ya Tembo Camp.
With only three tents and a
maximum capacity of 8
guests, Campi ya Tembo is
possibly the smallest camp
in the Mara and one of its
best kept secrets. From the
1st January 2010, it can be
booked as a private camp:
whether you are two or
eight, the camp is
exclusively yours. Two tents
can accommodate two guests
each and the third one is a
family tent with 2 bedrooms,
2 bathrooms and a large
verandah. Campi ya Tembo has
running water and flush
toilets, but bucket
showers, no electricity and
no telephone network: a true
bush camp for the discerning
travelers who enjoy Africa
as it was. In the elegant
mess tent cold drinks are
served by our Maasai staff.
In the evening a camp fire
roars, while our chefs
prepare dinner. Bush babies
call, impalas fight for
supremacy and Masai warriors
sing and dance to celebrate
the end of another
extraordinary safari. Campi
ya Tembo is located in one
of the most exciting corners
of the Mara ecosystem, where
no other vehicles are seen.
Large herds of elephant, and
many giraffe, leopard,
buffalo and a growing pack
of wild dogs make our game
drives and game walks in the
surrounding Yaile
Conservancy unforgettable.
We also specialize in night
game drives. Campi ya Tembo
is a good base for exploring
the other areas of Mara
North Conservancy, the new
reserve established around
the Maasai Mara National
Reserve and is perfect for
our special programs: the
drawing safaris and the
warriors for a week. .
