Mombassa Serena witnessed the release of over 200 turtle hatchlings.  The Mombasa Serena has been actively participating in turtle conservation since 1993.  The overall objective is to provide a safe haven to eggs laid in doomed nests and facilitate the translocation of turtle eggs from doomed nests to safe havens.  The Mombasa Serena solely finances this project.  The hotel spends approximately $4,000 per year on this project.  Guests are encouraged to adopt a turtle for fund raising measure.  The beachfront of the hotel is a traditional turtle nesting ground.  This year the hotel witnessed the release of 200 hatchlings to the sea on the morning of Monday April 23, 2007 from the hotels hatcheries.  .
