Day 3 Amboseli National Park: Campi Ya Kanzi (BLD)
After breakfast, you will be driven to the airport. FLY from Nairobi to Amboseli. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive. Campi Ya Kanzi means “Camp of the hidden treasure” in Kiswahili and it is truly that. The camp is located on a Masai ranch that covers an area of a quarter of a million acres, with fantastic biodiversity stretching from the Chyulu Hills to the foothills of majestic Kilimanjaro. Guests can view game on foot with an experienced local Masai guide, or in four wheel drive vehicles. Accommodations are in permanent tents built on wooden platforms with thatched roofs. Each tent has en suite permanent bathrooms as well as a wooden verandah overlooking the Tsavo Hills and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Paraffin lamps provide light in order to give the real atmosphere of the earlier grand African safari. The camp has been built with local materials only, and not a single tree has been cut. Campi Ya Kanzi is the living example of the policies of the Kenya Wildlife Service, which encourages local people to become involved in the conservation of wildlife. This approach to conservation is based on the self-interested involvement of the Maasai, rather than the creation of laws and bans. For example, when lions kill Maasai cattle, the Maasai naturally wish to eliminate the lions to protect their livelihood. However, if the same lions produce profit through tourism, the Maasai realize that it is best to co-exist with them. The Maasai now see the benefit of having wildlife on their land, so they protect the animals and view them as extension of their ranching activities.
Day 4 Amboseli National Park: Campi Ya Kanzi (BLD)
Enjoy some of the best game viewing in Africa on a morning and an afternoon game drive or a game walk.
Day 5 Samburu/Laikipia: Losiaba Lodge (BLD)
After breakfast, FLY to the Laikipia via Nairobi, where you will be met and driven to the camp. In the afternoon, enjoy an afternoon game drive. Constructed from stone, local timber and thatch, the lodge is perched high on the edge of the plateau looking south towards Mount Kenya. Each room has large French windows that open onto a private deck cantilevered off the escarpment. The views are legendary, and a water hole a few hundred feet below draws continuous wildlife. All the furniture in the lodge is handmade at Losiaba. The lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court, and bocce court and croquet lawn. The spa offers massage and beauty treatment and a romantic open-air bubble bath, all with a tranquil view of the unspoilt Karissia Hills. The Lodge has a total of 7 rooms, 4 Doubles and 3 twin Rooms. One of the double rooms has a separate sitting room that can double as a further bedroom for a family group. Losiaba is made for adventure: guests enjoy complete freedom to choose how they spend their time so the only barrier is your own imagination. Trek through the bush with camels, mountain bike down the escarpment, raft, horseback-ride or drive through the wild canyons of the two great rivers that span the vast property. Losiaba is immense: bigger than ten of the world's fully-fledged nations. You could take months exploring this land and never encounter the same view twice. There really are no limits to what you choose to do: fly camping in the wilderness, then a helicopter trip to surf the remote sand-dunes of the Northern Frontier District or a spot of fly-fishing on Mount Kenya, rock-climb (unescorted) on the soaring pinnacles that reach up from the valley floor or just play a little tennis and lie by the pool. We can assure you that you will not bump into anyone else and you will see the most extraordinary natural wonders - spectacular animal life that is wild, free and exhilarating to observe and a kaleidoscopic variety of birds, both endemic and migratory.
Day 6 Samburu/Laikipia: Losiaba Lodge (BLD)
