Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Depart on British Airways from your gateway city.

Day 2 Nairobi: House of Waine
Arrive into London in the morning and connect with your British Airways flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival into Nairobi, you will be met by an AfricaTours representative and escorted to your hotel. House of Waine is situated on 2.5 acres that blends the elegance of gracious living with the spirit of modern Africa in an exclusive and serene setting. The aim is to provide guests with an experience that exceeds all their expectations of city hotels and is punctuated by personalised, friendly and excellent service and cuisine in beautiful surroundings.  There are 11 bedrooms that are all individually styled and then named to reflect their different themes ensuring that no two are the same. 9 bedrooms can be single, double or twin rooms. Each bedroom features a large marble bathroom with plenty of natural light. Most bathrooms have a separate shower and bath (with the exception of 2 which feature only a bath) and all have a complete range of toiletries, hairdryers and bathroom telephone.

Day 3 Amboseli National Park: Campi Ya Kanzi (BLD)
After breakfast, you will be driven to the airport. FLY from Nairobi to Amboseli. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive. Campi Ya Kanzi means “Camp of the hidden treasure” in Kiswahili and it is truly that. The camp is located on a Masai ranch that covers an area of a quarter of a million acres, with fantastic biodiversity stretching from the Chyulu Hills to the foothills of majestic Kilimanjaro. Guests can view game on foot with an experienced local Masai guide, or in four wheel drive vehicles. Accommodations are in permanent tents built on wooden platforms with thatched roofs. Each tent has en suite permanent bathrooms as well as a wooden verandah overlooking the Tsavo Hills and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Paraffin lamps provide light in order to give the real atmosphere of the earlier grand African safari. The camp has been built with local materials only, and not a single tree has been cut. Campi Ya Kanzi is the living example of the policies of the Kenya Wildlife Service, which encourages local people to become involved in the conservation of wildlife. This approach to conservation is based on the self-interested involvement of the Maasai, rather than the creation of laws and bans. For example, when lions kill Maasai cattle, the Maasai naturally wish to eliminate the lions to protect their livelihood. However, if the same lions produce profit through tourism, the Maasai realize that it is best to co-exist with them. The Maasai now see the benefit of having wildlife on their land, so they protect the animals and view them as extension of their ranching activities.

Day 4 Amboseli National Park: Campi Ya Kanzi (BLD)
Enjoy some of the best game viewing in Africa on a morning and an afternoon game drive or a game walk.

Day 5 Samburu/Laikipia: Losiaba Lodge (BLD)
After breakfast, FLY to the Laikipia via Nairobi, where you will be met and driven to the camp. In the afternoon, enjoy an afternoon game drive. Constructed from stone, local timber and thatch, the lodge is perched high on the edge of the plateau looking south towards Mount Kenya. Each room has large French windows that open onto a private deck cantilevered off the escarpment. The views are legendary, and a water hole a few hundred feet below draws continuous wildlife. All the furniture in the lodge is handmade at Losiaba. The lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court, and bocce court and croquet lawn. The spa offers massage and beauty treatment and a romantic open-air bubble bath, all with a tranquil view of the unspoilt Karissia Hills. The Lodge has a total of 7 rooms, 4 Doubles and 3 twin Rooms. One of the double rooms has a separate sitting room that can double as a further bedroom for a family group. Losiaba is made for adventure: guests enjoy complete freedom to choose how they spend their time so the only barrier is your own imagination. Trek through the bush with camels, mountain bike down the escarpment, raft, horseback-ride or drive through the wild canyons of the two great rivers that span the vast property. Losiaba is immense: bigger than ten of the world's fully-fledged nations. You could take months exploring this land and never encounter the same view twice. There really are no limits to what you choose to do: fly camping in the wilderness, then a helicopter trip to surf the remote sand-dunes of the Northern Frontier District or a spot of fly-fishing on Mount Kenya, rock-climb (unescorted) on the soaring pinnacles that reach up from the valley floor or just play a little tennis and lie by the pool. We can assure you that you will not bump into anyone else and you will see the most extraordinary natural wonders - spectacular animal life that is wild, free and exhilarating to observe and a kaleidoscopic variety of birds, both endemic and migratory.

Day 6 Samburu/Laikipia: Losiaba Lodge (BLD)
Enjoy a full day of activities with walks and other activities in the reserve.

Day 7 Masai Mara National Park: Saruni Safari Camp (BLD)
After breakfast, FLY to the Masai Mara. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive. Saruni Safari Camp is a deluxe, intimate design Kenya safari lodge set in a conservation area bordering with the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. With accommodation for 12 guests in 6 spectacular cottages, it is set in a remote valley at the heart of the most exciting African wilderness. This Kenya safari lodge is located in one of the prime areas for ornithologists and hundreds of different species have been recorded. While on safari, you will be able to meet the Maasai warriors and their families. Most of the employees are from the surrounding areas and are very keen to introduce you to their fascinating traditions. They will become your friends, when you come to stay at this Kenya safari lodge. Nyati House at Saruni is the personal home of the owners that can accommodate a family of 4.

Day 8 Masai Mara National Park: Saruni Safari Camp (BLD)
Spend the day venturing deeper into the Mara with a morning game drive and an afternoon game drive. The Masai Mara is unrivaled in the abundance and variety of game. The vast plains are full of surprises — you may witness a kill by a big cat or playful lion cubs in the shade of an acacia tree alongside the dozing members of the pride.
