The indoor lounge is tastefully decorated, with comfortable chairs and a fireplace in front of which to relax and read a magazine. Whilst each room caters for the every need of the most discerning traveler, the emphasis remains one of simplicity and elegance. After all, luxury should be subtle. Andersson's Africa offers an unrivalled experience of Namibia at her most wild and breathtaking, of the starkly beautiful Namibian landscape, her desert adapted wildlife and eco-systems, and her diverse communities. It is an ultra-luxurious fully serviced camping expedition delivering all the personal attention a "mobile deluxe lodge". Accommodation is in plush tents with superior furniture and fittings, with attached bathroom with flush toilets, hot showers and fine guest amenities. The guest dining and living areas are superbly equipped and there are board games and a well stocked-library. Cuisine served is of the highest standard. After breakfast and a morning walk you will be driven to Waterberg along quiet country roads through an area rich in cattle and game farms. Rising some 200 meters above a surrounding sea of bush and savannah, the Waterberg Plateau is recognizable from some distance away. Its imposing flamboyant red sandstone formations and lush green vegetation present an island of vibrant color, which seems to glow at sunrise and sunset. This vast pristine wilderness is home to a huge variety of plant species, 240 bird species and rare and endangered species of game. It is also steeped in history as it was in the foothills of the Waterberg where the Herero people lost their greatest battle to the German colonial forces at the beginning of the century. Your exclusive campsite provides a shady refuge beautifully situated under a dense canopy of leadwood, camelthorn and umbrella thorn trees. Kudu and the diminutive Damara dik dik frequent the area of the campsite, and leopard tracks have been seen on a number of occasions. Enjoy a late afternoon walk with sundowners.
Day 5 Omboroko Mountains: Okonjima Bush Camp (BLD)
After an early morning walk on the Waterberg Plateau followed by a wholesome breakfast, continue to Okonjima – nestled in the unspoiled beauty of the Omboroko Mountains. Okonjima is home to the AfriCat Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of Namibia’s threatened cats. With over 300 bird species – including most of the Namibian endemics – birdwatching from the Lodge’s hide is extraordinary. You may also enjoy various walking trails including a guided San (Bushman) trail, and excellent home cooked meals are served indoors or outside around a fire. In the Herero language, Okonjima means 'place of the baboons'. This is a family run lodge, which is known for its peaceful, caring and friendly atmosphere. Okonjima Luxury Bush Camp is situated at the edge of a wilderness area. It has been designed to create a barrier-free atmosphere between man and nature. Wood, thatch, luxurious furnishings and earthy tones create a relaxing ambiance surrounded by breathtaking scenery. An authentic African experience is particularly reflected in the unique chalets and the ‘lapa’ built in the shape of the indigenous ‘camelthorn’ pod. Okonjima's Bush Camp is the proud home of the non-profit AfriCat Foundation that has achieved success in the rehabilitation of cheetahs, and the rescue and release of leopards and other predators.
Day 6 Etosha National Park: Mobile Luxury Tented Camp (BLD)
