Fri Day 1 Depart USA on South African Airways from your choice of gateways.
Sat Day 2 Johannesburg: Sandton City Holiday Inn Garden Court
Arrive into Johannesburg, you will be met by an AfricaTours representative and escorted to the hotel. The hotel is located within walking distance of Sandton City; it has 157 rooms, all of which are air-conditioned, and come with a private bathroom, color TV, hairdryer, tea/ coffee facilities, laundry service and room service. The hotel has 1 restaurant and 1 bar and is equipped with an outdoor pool. The Square and Village Walk, exclusive shopping centers, sports facilities cinemas and zoo are all close by.
Sun Day 3 Johannesburg: Sandton City Holiday Inn Garden Court (B)
Enjoy a half-day tour of Pretoria. Also known as the Jacaranda City after the city's Jacaranda trees, which blossom in springtime. Named after Marthinus Pretorious, Pretoria houses the central government offices as well as a host of foreign embassies and is home of 1994 inauguration of President Nelson Mandela. Your tour includes the Union buildings, designed by Sir Herbert Baker, and which house the office of the President of South Africa, a visit to the Voortrekker Monument, which stands as a reminder of the courage and spirit of the Voortrekker’s - pioneer settlers who left the Cape in search of land further north, visits to Paul Kruger House and Melrose House - both depicting different eras in South African History. You will be taken on a drive through the suburbs before returning to your hotel, where your tour ends.
Mon Day 4 Mpumalanga/Eastern Transvaal: Sabi River Sun Lodge (B)
After breakfast, depart for Mpumalanga. On this tour you will visit places of incredible beauty and see an ever-changing landscape. The Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, God’s Window, and the historic gold mining town of Pilgrim’s Rest, Mac Mac and Lone Creek Falls. An excellent picnic lunch is served en-route. The peaceful Sabi River Sun is just a few minutes drive from the famous Kruger National Park and within easy reach of the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Potluck holes and Pilgrim’s Rest. On this 165 acre millionaire’s estate the hotel has a restaurant and bar, full size snooker table, table tennis, swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, three tennis courts and a bowling green. Other activities include river rafting, horse riding, hot air ballooning and mountain biking.
Tue Day 5 Kruger National Park: Pestana Kruger Lodge (B) - or similiar
After breakfast, drive to Kruger National Park. Enjoy a morning game drive in an area where the wildlife congregates along the banks of the Sabi River. Animals, which may be seen, include lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, crocodile and many other species of antelope as well as prolific bird life. Optional afternoon game drive. Pestana Kruger Lodge is situated just 150 meters away from the Malelane Gate on the south side of the Kruger National Park. Its ideal for the whole family. Thu Day 7 Swaziland: Royal Swazi Sun (B)
After breakfast travel to Swaziland, enter Swaziland via the Jeppes Reef and continue through this Royal Kingdom, down the Valley of the Kings, past the Royal Palace. Visit the Ngwenya glass factory before reaching the hotel. Spend the late afternoon relaxing, or visit a nearby craft market Royal Swazi Sun is located on extensive grounds in the Ezulwini Valley, near the Milwane Wildlife sanctuary. The hotel offers a grill room, several bars and a casino. All rooms are superior with en-suite.
Fri Day 8 Zululand/ Hluhluwe Game Reserve: Hilltops Camp (BL) – or similar
Drive through Swaziland via Big Bend, the sugar producing center of Swaziland. The main road crosses the Usuthu River, and the Ngavuma River whose banks are lined with magnificent fever trees, visit a well-known Swazi Candle factory before re-entering South Africa. Arrive at a Cultural village in time for lunch and a show displaying local culture. Hilltop camp is situated high on the edge of a steep forested slope. It commands breathtaking views of Zululand’s hills and Valleys. Hilltop’s rustic thatch design merges tastefully with the natural surroundings, and at its high altitude, the camp is cooler than the rest of the reserve, a welcome retreat after a day’s game viewing. Sat Day 9 Durban: Southern Sun Elangeni (B)
Enjoy a morning game drive. Departing Hluhluwe the journey continues towards Durban. Visit the Indian Ocean resort of Umhlanga, before continuing the journey, to arrive in Durban in the late afternoon. Sun Day 10 Cape Town: Waterfront Holiday Inn (B)
After a morning at leisure, transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight to Cape Town. Arrive into Cape Town, where you will be met by an AfricaTours representative and escorted to the hotel. This hotel is nestled between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. All rooms are air-conditioned with private bath and separate shower, color cable TV, radio, state of the art voicemail, wake-up call facilities and computer modem points. The hotel has a Breakfast room restaurant and bar and comes equipped with a fully equipped gym and swimming pool.
Mon Day 11 Cape Town: Waterfront Holiday Inn (B)
Enjoy a full day tour of the beautiful Cape Peninsular. Depart your hotel and travel via Green Point and Sea Point to Maidens Cove and then on to Hout Bay where there is a short stop. Passengers wishing to take the optional boat trip to Duiker Island will be dropped off to board their boat. The rest of the passengers have time at leisure in Hout Bay to perhaps visit the variety of shops or stop for refreshments. After collecting the passengers off the Duiker Island trip, we continue on our journey via Constantia Nek to the world famous Kirstenbosch Gardens- one of the world's greatest botanical gardens with over 5000 plant species in the gardens and hot houses. Visitors have plenty to do and see here, including a large gift shop, restaurants, and walks in and around the garden. Leaving Kirstenbosch, we make our way to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Visit Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope by way of funicular or on foot. The views from this point are spectacular. There is a lunch stop (optional and for own account) and afterwards we proceed via Simonstown, Fishoek and Muizenberg and onto Cape Town where your tour ends at approximately 5:30 pm.
Tue Day 12 Cape Town: Waterfront Holiday Inn (B)
Today journey on a tour of the famous Cape Winelands. After departing your hotel, you will proceed to the wine region of Paarl for a cellar tour and wine. After a short orientation tour of Paarl, there is a chance to walk around the town before heading through to Stellenbosch via Franschoek. Lunch stop (for own account). We then proceed to a wine farm for your final wine tasting of the tour before returning to Cape Town where the tour ends. Experience the unforgiving crags that rise up in a haze of splendor around these renowned Winelands with their range of award winning wines. Or, simply marvel at the majesty of it all. A rare find.
Wed Day 13 Departure (B)
You will have the morning at leisure, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg; connect with your International flight.
