Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 Johannesburg: Melrose Arch Hotel
Arrive into Johannesburg, where you will be met by an AfricaTours representative and escorted to your hotel. The Melrose Arch Hotel is Africa’s first truly Hip Hotel. Situated within the new urban Melrose Arch development, this unique hotel offers personalized facilities and services of exquisite standard combined with a sense of fun and entertainment. The hotel is surrounded by shops and restaurants and is minutes away from various attractions. The hotel has 117 Luxury Bedrooms and an Exclusive Penthouse. All rooms feature, silent, individually controlled Air-conditioning, bath & separate shower. A Flat Screen TV with Satellite Channels, complimentary & charged movies, DVD & surround sound. All rooms are equipped with a Mini-bar, tea/Coffee making facilities, executive work desk, International adapters, and free internet access for duration of stay, safety deposit box and a hairdryer. The hotel has the “March” Restaurant, “March” Coffee Shop, 3 Bars (Restaurant, Library and Pool) a Library a Sound Room and a swimming Pool.

Day 2 Private Game Reserve: Tinga Lodge (BLD)
After breakfast you will be met at the hotel and driven to the airport.
11:30 am: Depart Johannesburg on Nel Air (this flight can make several stops).
1:30 pm: Arrive into Skukuza airport, where you will be met by a camp representative and driven to the camp (approximately 5 minutes). Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Situated in the world-renowned Kruger National Park, Tinga Private Game Lodge offers unparalleled luxury at its secluded Legends lodge. It is tucked away on magnificent privately-owned land at the confluence of the Sabi and Sand Rivers, and with 35km of prime river frontage, the only visitors you will receive while staying at either of the lodges are a vast array of wildlife and bird species. Measuring approximately 120 square meters (approximately 1,291 square feet), each air-conditioned suite has a private lounge, large en-suite bathroom with bath, double vanity & a large indoor shower, private outdoor shower, extra length king size beds, overhead fans, under floor heating, writing desk, satellite television, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, international electrical adapters, direct dial telephones, large safe and a hairdryer. . Surrender yourself to the opulence of your suite or step outside and appreciate Africa’s natural beauty from the privacy of your own game viewing deck. Each suite has been strategically positioned to ensure the best possible, unspoilt view of the Sabi River and the African bush.

Day 3 Private Game Reserve: Tinga Lodge (BLD)
Enjoy a morning and afternoon game drive. A typical day consists of an early wake up call at approximately 5:30 am where you will be served tea, coffee and cookies in the Lodge before your start off on your early morning game drive. You will return to the lodge at approximately 10:00 am where you will enjoy a full breakfast. The rest of the morning is yours to enjoy catching up on your sleep, swimming in the pool, browsing in the curio shop or participating in a game walk. Lunch is served at around 1:00 pm. At 3:30 pm the bongo drums summons you to afternoon tea and coffee before setting out on your afternoon/evening game drive. You will return to the lodge at around 7:30 pm in time to get ready for dinner either in the lodge or the boma (a boma is a reed enclosed outdoor eating area. You will eat under a starry African night with the calls of the wild in the distance – a truly memorable event).

Day 6 Johannesburg: Melrose Arch Hotel (BLD)
After a morning game drive and some leisure time, you will be driven to the airstrip for your flight to Johannesburg.
2:00 pm: Depart Skukuza on Nel Air (this flight can make several stops).
3:30 pm: Arrive into Johannesburg, where you will be met by an AfricaTours representative and driven to the hotel.  Tonight enjoy dinner at Moyo Restaurant.

Day 7 Mozambique: Marlin Lodge (BLD)
After breakfast you will be driven to Johannesburg airport.
10:20 am: Depart Nelspruit airport on Pelican Air. 
12:00 pm: Arrive into Vilanculos, where you will be met by a camp representative where you will be driven to the dock (about 5-10 minutes) for 25 minute boat transfer to the lodge.  In a National Marine Park in Mozambique, lies an archipelago of offshore islands known as The Bazaruto Archipelago.  There are three main islands known as Margaruque, Benguerra and Bazaruto.  On the second largest island, Benguerra lies and exciting getaway destination known as Marlin Lodge.  Marlin Lodge offers the perfect paradise escape, with dhow sails on the horizon and warm, translucent water at your doorstep; often water temperatures in summer reach 86 degrees Fahrenheit.  Marlin's elegant wooden structures are beautifully integrated into the environment.  The lodge comprises of 19 individual chalets connected by elevated walkways and each offering en-suite facilities, their own private verandah and a wooden walkway leading down to the beach directly in front of each chalet.  The center-piece is a living-dining area crafted from ironwood and red mahogany - Robinson Crusoe could have asked for nothing more.  The pool is set in a glade of coconut and Illala palms, perfect for a day of lazing and tropical cocktails.  Experienced chefs prepare dinners, consisting of a wide array of seafood specialties.  The water temperature ranges between 23°C (73°F) and 26°C (79°F).  This makes outings of scuba diving and snorkeling combined with a picnic lunch on one of the many beautiful island beach locations very popular.  Other activities include ocean-ski paddling, windsurfing, hobiecat sailing and island drives.  The following watersports are included in the rates: windsurfing, ocean ski paddling & catamaran sailing.  All other watersports would be an additional cost.

Day 8 Mozambique: Marlin Lodge (BLD)
Enjoy a full day at leisure. Enjoy a dhow cruise.

Day 9 Mozambique: Marlin Lodge (BLD)
Enjoy a full day at leisure. Enjoy an Island dive excursion.

Day 10 Mozambique: Marlin Lodge (BLD)

Day 13 Departure (B)
After breakfast and some leisure time you will transfer to the jetty for your 25 minute boat transfer to Vilanculos jetty, where you will be met and driven to the airport.
1:45 pm: Depart Vilanculos on Pelican Air.
4:00 pm: Arrive into Johannesburg.
