Day 6 Lower Zambezi: Chiawa Tented Camp (BLD)
After breakfast you will be driven to the airport for your flight to the Lower Zambezi. Arrive into the airstrip, where you will be met by a camp representative and driven to the lodge. The lower Zambezi lies along the northern bank of the Zambezi River, 100 kilometers downstream of Victoria Falls. It covers 1092 square kilometers and has abundant wildlife, including elephant, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, leopard and a variety of birds. Game drives and walks often reveal lion, leopard and on occasion cheetah. Canoe safaris and fishing on the Zambezi offer an excellent opportunity to see a variety of game and birdlife. Resting peacefully in a grove of Mahogany and Acacia trees, Chiawa Camp can accommodate up to 16 guests in well-appointed safari tents. These are set on elevated timber decks, providing both privacy and panoramic views of the Zambezi River. All tents have en-suite facilities, twin or double beds, insect screens and solar powered lighting. The thatched lounge with upstairs observation deck, bar and dinning areas looks over the Zambezi River and the animals that regularly drink around the lodge. Enjoy fireside barbecues and refreshing cocktails by starlight in our reed-enclosed boma. The guides at Chiawa Camp are qualified and experienced with specialized training for the Zambezi River’s unique adventure opportunities. Activities include: game drive in open-topped vehicles, night game drives, bush walks, canoeing, river cruises and fishing.

Day 9 South Luangwa: Nkwali Camp (BLD)
After a morning game drive and breakfast you will be driven to the airstrip for your flight to Mfuwe via Livingstone. Arrive into Mfuwe, where you will be met by a camp representative and escorted to the lodge. The Luangwa Valley was formed by the same massive forces, which created the East African Rift. Located some 600 kilometers from Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, the vast South Luangwa National Park covers an area of 5,611 sq. miles and averages 1,968 feet in altitude. The meandering Luangwa River dominates the Valley floor. This river is dynamic and constantly changing its course. The resulting lagoons and sandbanks attract an abundance of wildlife. The birds, some 400 recorded species, are spectacular and colorful. With three distinct habitats, the river, the adjoining lagoons and the plains, there is a wide diversity of game. Nkwali is located on Robin's private land, overlooking the National Park. The land is superb game viewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grasslands. Elephants regularly cross the Luangwa, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room. The chalets are cool and spacious, overlooking the river. Access to the park is by boat or our nearby pontoon. The area is famous for leopard and giraffe sightings. Nkwali is open all year and the seasons are basically divided into the “dry season” (mid May – October) and the “green season” (November – mid May). There are 6 rooms for a maximum of 12 guests, each with en-suite bathrooms. Enjoy walking safaris, game drives and night game drives.

Day 10 South Luangwa Valley:
Nkwali Camp (BLD)
Enjoy a full day of game viewing. A typical day - if there is such a thing - starts with the wake up call just before dawn. Tea and coffee, cereals and toast are announced soon after, and then the walk or drive leaves the camp. A mid morning stop with tea/coffee and cake keeps you going until you return to the camp anytime between 9:30 am and mid-day. After brunch, there is a chance to rest, read or spend a few quite hours at the hide. At 4:00 pm, following afternoon tea and cake, the afternoon game drive or walk leaves the camp. The drive takes sundowners and continue with a night game drive returning to the camp at around 8:00 pm. Drinks at the bar, a delicious three course dinner and a nightcap sitting around the camp fire, under the stars finishes the day in the bush. Fall into bed at around 10:30 pm, as the hyenas call.

Day 11 South Luangwa Valley:
Nkwali Camp (BLD)
